Two rows of silent monks lean against the walls, engrossed, wrapped in their concrete, worn-out tunic. Mute, they show the stigmata of a harsh daily life by bearing the coat of arms of a suffering modernity. Like silent, warrior monks, they are spectators of the liturgical procession of other monks adorned by the ceremonial vestments of the street, of rejection and marginality. In the severe rooms of the Real Albergo dei Poveri, the ceremony of modernity is unfolding.
